We shot this studio project in Otari-Wilton's Bush and the Wellington Botanical Gardens. It was a chance for us to practise our passion for mixing real-world footage and digital animation. Once the live action footage had been shot we tracked the paper boat and the environment to apply the wire-removal and 2D animation. Both the puppetry, and the randomness of the little boat floating by itself, gave us lots of characterful and unexpected moments to inspire the 2D animation.
